As a small boutique producer, our children have grown up with our Bernat vineyard as their backyard, helping with harvests, and observing the cycles of the seasons through the vineyard. This daily devotion to the vineyard, where all great wines begin, is infused in every bottle. Our CCOF certified organic grapes are hand-harvested and minimally processed using old-world methods of winemaking. Patience and respect for the process nature has provided make our Sangiovese, Syrah, Nebbiolo, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache Blanc a true expression of their place and the story they want to tell in each glass.
The 2014 Bernat Syrah has a very expressive nose that is layered with black cherry, cranberry, sage, and black pepper. The wine shows mostly front and mid-palate, before hitting softened tannins on the back palate. It has a gravelly textured tannic structure that is lighter than previous Bernat Syrah vintages. It has an evolution of ripening red plum and cranberry it has a bright, brisk and lively acid. It is a vast array of fascinating flavors like dusty gravel, forest clove, black pepper, and worn leathery earth. It finishes long and dry that leaves the palate salivating. It is a wonderful food wine that can complement heavier creamed sauces and lighter meats like roasted pork or chicken.
