Winery Tasting Notes:
Vin: 100% handpicked vineyard-designate old vine Chardonnay, picked in the middle of the night, aged 10 months in 20% new Damy French oak with the remainder in neutral barrel
Profile: Transports you straight to the sea (only several miles away as the crow flies) with a distinct saltiness and salinity. Raw hazelnut and lemon curd abound on the extremely intoxicating and highly expressive nose.
On the palate this wine is glossy to start with a gorgeous middle mouthfeel, the salinity persists with a bit more of that lemon curd but lemon rind as well. Crazy long finish. This is a wine that I can best describe in a nutshell as bright and sassy yet entirely serious. These vines are an incredible 47 years old! Drinking beautifully now but will age like a goddess. I am smitten.
